Fields in Roto

Is there any feature that makes it easier to roto when the fields mode is selected?

Im finding that I have to drop too many keys to get a smooth and clean selection.

The motion should be smooth when fields mode is enabled (and you have field material, and you have the proper field dominance selected on the source). If you see jitter, make sure you have the proper field dominance selected.

I guess my question, is based more on a better work flow to rotoscoping with the fields option enabled and AE interpreting the footage as lower field first.

I would usually lay down a key every 5 frames or so, and then tweak as needed, but now that Im using silhouette with the fields enabled feature, Im noticing that I need to lay 2 keys every time (1 for each field as I notice that the clip will hop between fields.)

Is this normal? Or is there any other options?

Oh, you're using the AE plugin? In that case, AE is handling the fields. You're better off doing your roto in a sub-comp, with the rate set to 60 so AE is expanding the fields to full frames. This is roughly equivalent to how the Silhouette standalone would deal with it.
