shift-arrow, turns itself off sometimes. Its really strange. Everything will be going smoothly and then in transform mode say, shift - arrow to nudge 10px = nothing. so then I have to use the pen and that seems to kick start it again.
I thought it didnt really make a difference, but now I just find it a pain. has anyone else found this happening?

This sounds like a loss of focus (in the application, not yours :) ). Can you try to notice if the problem with shift-arrow seems to have anything to do with clicking in another pane?

The different panes are different windows. If another window is "active" by clicking in it last, then keyboard shortcuts in other windows might stop working until the window ignoring you is clicked in again.

If this the is problem, I'm not sure there's anything we can do as forcing focus back to the image pane would be the wrong thing to do in many circumstances.

Yes, sounds like a focus problem. Moving the cursor back into the main viewer *should* resolve the problem.

But like Perry mentioned it would help if there was a reproducible way to get it to lose focus.

i've been using the software for at least a week now solely with a pen and i've not had any experience like what adam mentions.

yep, sure enough it looks like selecting splines in the shapelist changes the focus to that window and when I advance a few frames and hit shift-arrow, my focus window is still shapelist. :) - adjustment to my workflow required.

Does moving your mouse/pen back into the viewer before hitting the nudge key work?

yes moving pen back to viewer works. as does selecting the shapes in the viewer in the first place. thanks

This is something I can't do anything about. Once you do something in another widget, it grabs the focus. I can't know when you're "done" manipulating the other widget (ie. after you select a shape from the shape list). However, I force the focus to the viewer when the cursor enters it - that's the best I can do.

thats cool paul, now that I understand how it works. It had me stumped for a while there. I guess my habbit is to select the shapes in the shapelist with the pen and as I go back to the keyboard sometimes cursor would pass over the viewer thus enabling the viewer and sometimes it wouldnt pass over it leaving the viewer switched off and me unable to nudge. sorted now though, cheers.

So I still have trouble with the focus. I'm working away and sometimes I forget to pass the cursor over the viewer to get focus back, so that means I take my hands off the keys and back to the tablet to focus the viewer again.

So today I realised the arrow keys dont work in any of the other frames, timeline or shapelist even if they are in focus.

So I thought It should be easy to make the arrow keys work in the viewer no matter where the focus is, since they have no affect on anything else right?

whaddya say? anyone else having focus dramas?

so it seems i'm the only one with the focus problem as i'm replying to my own post. I thought i's ask is it not possible to have a script that says 'when arrow key pressed focus = viewer' ?

It happens to me when I work with the timeline, and then go to the keys, cursor stays in timeline.

i'm trying to change my habits and i'm getting used to it, still trips me though.

Hmm - sounds reasonable.

In fact, this one thing I started on today will make this issue moot.

Unfortunately, I can't eleborate more until I receive a 6-pack of dark NZ beer. :D

very nice!

had the best beer EVER a few months back - aussie brew, Cooper's Vintage. Actually recommended to me off the creative cow forum - cooper's had always been my favorite and that aussie recommended I try the new vintage. hand brewed in the bottle and fermented no less than a year (mine had been 2 years)

simply amazing. I've never had any beer quite like it.

I had a hard time getting ahold of it in NYC, and even harder out here (ironically) but try to order some if you have the means; won't be sorry.
