hi guys - we've just updated our kernel here at weta and have resolved our issues with kubuntu linux not handling larger caches of RAM with silhouette and other programs. We can now successfully max out the maxRAM pref and have stable operation on our 4gb RAM machines.
Problem is, maxRAM tops out at 2500, when (by editing the prefs file) I've been able to set it to 2900 and still get stable operation. This allows me to load in a significant amount of additional frames.
However, if I open the prefs in the GUI and make any changes, it will reset the maxRAM value to 2500 because that's the limit in the GUI.
Could I suggest you make a change so that the user can define the max setting in maxRAM? or that somehow we can manually change it to accomodate values over 2500 without it resetting each time like this?
Thanks!
