i have shape-A. when i preview it, it's filled with a color.
i have shape-B. when i preview it along with shape-A, they both fill with color. fine. as expected.
these shapes overlap a good deal.

but...

i invert shape-A and it inverts and previews as expected.
then i invert shape-B and what one expects to see ( two shapes filled with no color, while surrounded with a field of color ) doesn't happen.

how does one see combined inverted results without the incurring bizarre math that happens between the two shapes?

adam informs me that it's in the comp mode and that you're working on making that transparent.

is this the case?

thank you,

It sounds like you want to invert A and SUBTRACT B, so set B to subtract mode.

no. that's not what i want to do. i've tried every variation with the options available and i did not yield the desired result...hence my post.

if i try to think of it in a different way, i want to invert all of my shapes and have it be an additive process, so the shapes all combine to give me one solid shape. i'll try to get some screen captures up here so you can visually see what i'm talking about.

i think that would help.

how does one post images that reside on the local computer?

thank you.

Under Additional Options, there's a Manage Attachments button.
