Hi.
Is there a way of applying the name of the SSF file (exported from SFX) to the rotoshape name, rather than having to physically type the name into the node each time? Is it possible for the node to rename itself after the data's been imported?

Cheers!

actually - as crow is getting at - are there any possibilities for scripting here to create a much more involved, integrated workflow?

because, apparently, the ssh format doesn't retain opacity? I'm curious if the following might be something scriptable between s+r and shake -

1) s+r: batch an export of each shape as an INDIVIDUAL .ssh file
2) shake: batch import each ssh file as individual rotoshape
3) shake: rename each rotoshape node to the shape name from s+r
4) shake: create a keyframed fade node for each rotoshape with corresponding opacity keys from s+r
5) shake: create appropriate over nodes for each rotoshape (layering each as in s+r), retaining add/subtract modes
6) shake: as a last step, I'd like to group the entire lot of nodes into one node in shake that is named after the s+r session.

Also curious if we might see .ssh import into s+r? Just curious how easy that might be, since the exporter is already in place. low level request.

again, just asking if this might be possible, not asking you guys to do it! I'm not aware of the scripting capabilities of s+r, although I do believe from our discussion of file formats that an SDK exists or is being written. (is that available for download by the way?)

hope NAB is going well!

cheers.

The SSF format is very simplistic. We're writing all the information that the format allows.

How about instead of writing an SSF shape you don't export as such but instead create a shake script with multiple roto shapes named and added/subtracted as defined in sroto.

Pulling the shapes into a comp would then be as easy as simply cutting and pasting between scripts.

This is an approach several match moving applications use and it works well.

I understood from my research that only a quickshape can be defined in a script. Rotoshapes have to come in as SSF files. We'll monitor this with the release of future versions of Shake and will improve our connectivity as new means become available.

Please see the new thread in the feature requests area asking how we can improve the Shake / Silhouette integration via the SSF format. I will be bundling up the discussion there and sending it to Apple for their review. Perhaps some of the requests made there will have an impact on future developments.
