View Full Version : Funkiness when adding points.
I'm rotoing around a guys body using a B-Spline shape. I wanted to add a point to the top left shoulder. I alt+clicked getting a new point appearing at the place where I wanted, unfortunately, it was attached to an area of the spline under the guys RIGHT armpit. So the spline has pulled across, through the guys body from the armpit to the shoulder. I've deleted the point several times, pulled and pushed the spline around in the area where I want to add the point and the same thing happens each time when I add a point.
Weird!

I've noticed something else when trying to add a point - certain "angles" are really tough to add a point to here on linux (not something I experienced on other platforms). For example, I have a diagonal line that just won't pop up the add point icon no matter where I try to mouse over it, but yet when I mouse over a more vertical or horizontal part of the same spline, the add point icon pops right up without fail.
In fact, selecting shapes in reshape mode seems to suffer regularly from the same problem. Sometimes it's darn near impossible to select a shape and you just have to go and hunt for it in the timeline.
Perhaps there's a sensitivity issue that needs looked into here.

Do you have better luck if you zoom into the area and then try to add the point?

I wondered the same thing - unfortunately zooming has no effect. The little buggers are really hard to select - am I the only one having this problem? If no, this needs to be looked into.
yes I find a similar issue. Some areas of the splines wont let me add a point. and some splines -usually once they have been roto'd - I get to the end and try to add one more point and it will come, no matter what I do, from some other random place on the shape. tricky one.

It's a bug - there are "dead spots" on some b-splines. It's on my to-fix soon list.
BTW - we're back from NAB and had an excellent show. The Paint went over very well too. Next week I have some non-roto work to do but I'm planning on addressing many of the issues reported here for a Silhouette Select release.
First things first - I have my Private Pilot check-ride Monday morning! Wish me luck.

Private pilot?
Does that mean you can fly out here to New Zealand and personally integrate s+r into our pipeline? :D
Gotta watch those winds fliying into wellington! You'll end up like your little picture there - out in a corn field instead of the airstrip! :)
Good luck...

When did you get back to New Zealand? For some reason I thought you were in the States.
Unfortunately, I'd need at least a multi-engine turbine license to make it that far. No soup for me! :(

Ya, was in NYC until about 2 weeks ago. Traded the York for the Zealand.

Can't say I blame you in the least!
Is it coming up on fall there now?

yeah, i'll have to wait for christmas for a summer. :)
fall and winter around here doesn't necessarily get as cold as I'm used to, but it kicks the wind up a notch. I think it was about 40mph avg yesterday.
Wellington can give chicago a run for it's money on certain days getting towards winter, depending on what side of the hills you're on.
