I have found that even when shapes are locked, you can delete them from the project....
This worries me.
Its kind of like having a seatbelt that isnt actually fastened to the back of the seat.
I am running silhouette on a mac... not tested this on linux as of yet.

Locking just prevents them from being edited. You can still select them, copy them, delete them, etc. Some improvements have been made so locked shapes do not show their control points/handles when they ARE selected, but you can now have inactive shapes that are effectively invisible, and still delete them as well.
and you can delete the locked shapes keyframe too. Personally I lock the shape so I dont delete an important keyframe. But i'm sure this has been fixed for the next build, right? ;)

i agree with oatherton.
locked shapes should be glued to the project and not editable in anyway unless it's unlocked.
the term LOCKED has certain meanings that should be carried over into the application.
anyone else have thoughts on this?
thanks,

This begs the question, exactly how deep should this go?
Is it okay to rename a locked object?
Make it invisible?
Change its order in the list?
I think you should be able to make it invisible, change its order, but not rename, delete, select or delete keyframe.
