Move all points or As transform

What are the benefits of moving a shape using the transform, over simply selecting all points in reshape mode and moving them?

I am assuming that with the transform, you only set a transform keyframe, whereas with all points you set a key frame for each point.... correct?

When there are per-shape axes, that would be the benefit, yes.
