In and out points.

Is there any way of creating in and out points? The '-' and '+' keys in Commotion create 'in and out' points, then if shift + spacebar are pressed the frames within the in and out points are played.

In Silhouette I've tried setting the start frame and end frame, eg 50-60, but when I press play it starts at frame 1, ends at frame 60, then goes back to frame one again before continuing.

Setting the Timebar start and end points is supposed to do what you want. It appears that the outpoint is working but not the inpoint. We will fix.

If we add keyboard shortcuts for in and out point, it seems to me that we should use the standard editing keyboard shortcuts for in and out points which are "I" and "O". We may have editing features in the future and would like to be compatible.

how about we give the user the freedom to configure how they like. this is afterall NOT an editing package and editors won't necessarily be the only one's using the software.

i can not stress how much of a necessity this customization is. if you ask me, it should be topping your list (after the bug fixes of course). EVERYONE works differently as you are now seeing by the varied feedback and requests.

customization is paramount. i speak from experience and i'd like share that.

This is high on my list but as I explained in another thread it's not a trivial feature. To set user keys like "press this key to make the zoom level 50%" or "hold these modifiers while clicking this button to do THIS" are much more complicated to enable.

To do simple remapping of keys is pretty simple, but I don't think that is as flexible as you want.
