Using the AE Plugin I have found sometimes that motion blur does not want to work. I can export the masks to AE and turn motion blur on, but SR doesn't want to display it. It worked at first and then decided to poop out. I've tried to uninstall and re-installed, but to no avail. I think the answer is to pitch the preferences, but am unsure where these live.
Another weird thing is that the GUI doesn't change when I toggle between views - no preview of motion-blur or composite. Wonder if I've done something to turn the view mode off. I have seen it work fine before.
