I have an existing shape I would like to add a point to. I select the shape, hover over the segment, alt click and a point is added - only its attached to the other side of the shape?? frustrating. am I missing something?

This might happen on B-splines when the curve on the other side nears the area where you are trying to add a point. Is this the case? Zooming in a bit more might help.

If possible, export the shape to a Silhouette Shape file and email it to support, and we'll take a look.

i've also noticed when I create a shape (sometimes) it seems to be if I get too close to the shape as i'm plotting it out it stops, and remains as a line and the next point I plot starts a new shape.

is this something you are aware of?

Its no big deal - once you figure out not to get too close.

i'm trying to ALT-click on the spline (natural b-spline) and the cursor changes like it wants to add a point, but i'm getting no new points added to the spline. do i have to be in a certain mode or state before this feature will work?

thank you.

Make sure you are in Reshape mode when Alt-clicking. You should the be able to add points. If it is misbehaving, save your project and try a quick restart.

marco, i've restarted and i'm still not able to add points to this particular shape. might the shape be corrupt somehow?

i've just added a new shape and no luck with that one either. i'm using the linux version.

baffled? i am.

thanks.

Obviously, adding should not be an issue with the Linux version, but I will test on my Linux machine, but it won't be for a few hours.

I can't duplicate this problem on my Linux system. I created two B-splines--one drawn clockwise and the other counter clockwise and I can add point to both of them.

marco,

i can't add a point to save my life. even if i start a new session and use both styles of spline. what are the settings you're using? what view mode are you in? is there anything particular you might be doing that i may not be doing?

weird.

thanks,

I am using the release version, 1.04, and can add points without a problem. I am in View>Output and it seems to work as expected.

Guys - I'm working on a fix for the b-spline insert point problem right now. It should be available to Silhouette Select subscribers later today.

It will let you insert points on the green b-spline "hull" in cases where you can't get it to add on the shape outline. B-splines are kind of funky like that.

it might help to know that i turn that green hull off when i work. visual distraction

thanks!

I ended up fixing it a different way. It now uses a more robust method to determine where to add the new point. It DOES NOT use the b-spline hull.

Should show up in a 1.0.5 build today.
