user preferences should be saved for that user's login. having to set spline color, hull visibility, point colors, etc each and every session is not efficient to one's workflow.

These things *are* preferences - they should be saved and restored automatically each time you run.

Unless the program is crashing every time before you try to exit? (I hope not!)
