Hi,

We just had a very interesting situation occur.
We have 2 licences for Silhouette Roto V2 for Windows

We just discovered that one specific user can use Silhouette on both Windows PCs without problems from the license. When we looked at the status of the license (When he is logged on) it says it that the license is valid, yet for anyone else (Including the Administrator) the license is "Invalid").

That specific user was the only person who used Silhouette on both Windows PCs since it was installed. Is it possible that the licenses attached to a specific user account instead of a machine?

Thanks.

Yes, this is possible. It seems to be storing license information per-user, along with all the other preferences.

You can fix this with a bit of registry editing.

Go into regedit, and copy the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SilhouetteFX/Silhouette/licenses key tree into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/SilhouetteFX/Silhouette

That should do it.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back so fast. :-)

We tried what you suggested and we are still getiing the same problem. Only one user can have the license.

We even went so far as to uninstall and delete the Silhoeutte entires in the registry and then try your suggestion, and the problem still persists.

Darn.

Okay, are you saying when the second user logs in and runs, the license is not installed? Can you just reinstall the license while running under the new user?

When a second user logs on, they cannot save their work (Unless they close the program and then they are asked) The "Save" option is not available in FILE menu. When we try to edit the license, we get the License is still invalid. this applies to any user (Expect the one who seems to have the license attached) including the Admin account.

This is very strange.

Does the system key happen to be changing with each user? (I can't think of why it would).

For each user, you should be able to take the license key you were sent, start up roto, click on the SFX_ROTO license, click "Edit License", then paste in your license key.

Try this, and send me a screenshot (sfxsupport@silhouettefx.com) of the Edit License dialog (after you have pasted your license), it it doesn't work.
